Damping Systems for Motion control
Effective protection for overhead power lines
Overhead power lines are the backbone of our energy supply – they transmit electricity over long distances while withstanding wind, weather, and fluctuating loads. Yet it is precisely these external influences that can cause unwanted vibrations in the conductor cables. Without appropriate protective measures, these movements lead to material fatigue, damage to components, and, in the worst case, power outages.
This is exactly where our damping systems come in. They reliably protect your infrastructure from the effects of wind-induced vibrations, partial-field vibrations, and galloping. Through the targeted use of damping field spacers and vibration dampers, we ensure that your power lines remain stable – even under extreme conditions.
Every line is different. That is why we develop our solutions based on customized damping studies that take into account terrain, climatic conditions, line configuration, and voltage levels. Using state-of-the-art simulations and real-world field tests, we ensure that our systems are optimally tailored to your requirements.

Real-time vibration measurement
A particular highlight is our real-time vibration measurement: Using innovative vibration sensors, we monitor movements directly on the conductor – ensuring maximum transparency and safety.
With over 75 years of experience, more than 5 million damping systems installed worldwide, and a clear focus on quality and innovation, we are your trusted partner for seamless power transmission.
Spacer Dampers
Our damping systems protect the transmission line from the effects of vibrations. Spacer Dampers and vibration dampers are the key components of these systems, which we adapt to the specific requirements of the transmission line design.
The primary function of the Spacer Dampers is to keep the configuration of the conductor bundles within design limits under normal operating conditions. These are spacers with inertial, elastic, and damping properties that have been specifically developed to reduce aeroelastic vibrations. When correctly positioned along the span, they keep the vibrations induced by the wake flow under control.
Our Highlight: Nutcracker
Ideal for hot lines up to 210 °C. The clamp will not come loose due to temperature changes. During installation, the rubber-coated clamp is closed using pliers (electric or manual), and the orange latch is rotated 90° to lock it into place. The latch is permanently attached to the clamp and cannot be lost.

Vibration Damper

Vibration dampers, such as the Stockbridge type, efficiently absorb high-frequency vibrations and reduce material fatigue. Since the vibration frequency of the conductor varies with wind speed, the damper’s effectiveness depends on its ability to dampen the expected range of vibration frequencies.
